Hulme Gallery (a)
Found these: 3 B&W films shot in Hulme back in the day! Inner City living is often a grim prospect. As these B&W photographs testify. First few photos are from summer '92 when I first moved into Salter Square. Next film is much later in '93 after we'd had our windows smashed & our flat burgled. The faces in these photos were all friends at the time. Sadly some people pictured are no longer with us

Second page of photos were taken early one cold Sunday (WideAwakeClub) morning in January '96 around Ribchester Walk & Otterburn Close. Followed by images of a gas explosion that blew apart poor old Gwen Harding's flat on Bonsall Street in February same year. Up close there were lives lived behind all those deck-access front doors, old buses & caravans. As Hulme shrank beneath waves of eviction & demolition, these formerly separate pockets of people were forced to meet
