Selecting photographs for the recent Ex:Ample Ex:hibition 'Hip Hop Heroes', I dove into The Archive for images which, for one reason or another, had never before seen the light of day. Other contributors had more contemporaneous work, with a lot of Manchester acts already represented, so I decided to focus on iconic hip-hop from the US with a smattering of UK artists for balance (

By no means definitive, this collection of Hip Hop Heroes I thought deserved an airing in the Archive Gallery. So: There'll be 'A Bakers Dozen' (13) galleries going up over the summer as & when I get time to scan the original negatives. Enjoy the memories
