It has been four years now that our very own Example Magazine has been poking its’ nose and shining its’ lights into interesting & arresting areas of electronica, artists, DJs, producers and promoters; into dark corners of Mancunian night life and beyond; and feeding it all back to you hungry virtual-culture vultures

Last year, because our esteemed editor was holed up in a boho Berlin bunker, (formulating a Manchester-Munich drug connection probably), we decided to forgo our usually messy birthday celebrations/shenanigans

This year, to (roughly) coincide with the redesign & re-launch of our on-line magazine, I decided to keep us all busy and bothered by organising an event in the real world!

Our very first (hopefully not last) photography exhibition was at 2022NQ on Dale Street / Little Lever Street, just around the corner from the Roadhouse (venue for our 1st & 2nd birthday parties). The chosen theme was ‘Heroes of Hip Hop’. Though we all have individual musical likes/dislikes, hip-hop was a genre where our paths all crossed

The exhibition features 42 prints by Example photographers (Air Adam, Al Baker, Gary Brown, Jody Hartley & James Mernagh) and includes archive film, press shots, live event coverage and assignments from Eurocultured, Outlook festival & the USA

Opening night (always a mad one!) saw DJs Mikey DON (Krispy/UnityRadio), Lee Majors (More Bounce), Konny Kon (Broke’n’English) & Metrodome (ApeCult) kept our audience bopping & head-nodding, with live performances from Sparkz and Skittles, alongside Fox & Rolla from the Estate Recordings extended family, who absolutely smashed it!
